People living with dementia often feel vulnerable and in need of reassurance and support. It is important for their carers and people who support them to do everything they can to help the person to retain their sense of identity and feelings of self-worth.

Helping the person feel valued

  • Use preferred name and titles, where appropriate
  • Respect cultural values
  • Act with courtesy
  • Respect privacy

Helping the person feel good about themselves
