Discover Gwent Levels – Living Levels

The Gwent Levels are an iconic, estuarine landscape of international significance. First reclaimed from the sea in Roman times, the Gwent Levels are a network of fertile and historic watercourses, known locally as reens.

Things to do on the Gwent Levels

  • Wildlife watching, birds, water beetles, or dragonflies.
  • Visit Museums such as the Roman Legionary Museum in Caerleon, the Newport Medieval Ship Centre & Newport City Museum.
  • Historic sites, ancient burial mounds, Iron Age hill forts and Norman Castles and churches.
  • Walking along footpaths, bridleways and green lanes including the Wales Coast Path.
  • Cycling the flat levels.
