Direct Payments

A Direct Payment is a payment made to an individual by Social Services to buy the support they have been assessed as needing. It can be used to purchase existing private services or to employ someone for a specific role such as taking someone out or looking after them at home. It gives the individual or their Carer more choice about what services they would like. Don’t worry about becoming an employer as there is help available with all aspects of this.

To qualify for Direct Payments you first need a have an assessment of care needs carried out by Social Services. This can be arranged through Newport City Council. For contact details follow the link below.
