November 1 2019Adaptations are aids and alterations that allow you to live safely and comfortably in your home. They help you to continue to live independently in your home for as long as possible.
Minor adaptations can be supplied directly by Newport City Homes for their tenants.

Examples of minor adaptations:
- grab rails
- bannister rails
- lever taps
- door intercom system
- widening of doors for wheelchair users
- key safes
- external handrails
- installation of half steps
- small ramps for wheelchair users
For major adaptations you will need to contact Newport city council 0n 01633 656656 and ask to speak to the Community Occupational Therapy Team to come and complete an assessment.
Major adaptations include:
- stair-lifts
- through floor lifts
- lever access showers
- kitchen adaptations
- extensions
- large ramps for wheelchair users
